If you ever thought to grab the Sony Ericsson Xperia Play, now’s your chance to do so. Simply put, there are no excuses any more, with Argos asking 179 GBP (about $275) for the unlocked (SIM-free) device.
We’re not sure what to take from it. It could be that the first PlayStation certified smartphone isn’t selling that well or that the Swedish-Japanese handset maker is slashing the price before the new iPhone launches in the UK.
Whatever the reason is, it’s good to see smartphone prices dropping, eventually getting more people to use them.
As a reminder, the Xperia Play comes with a single-core Qualcomm processor clocking at 1GHz, HSPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, 4-inch screen, 5-megapixel camera, GPS, Bluetooth, memory card slot and that neat side-sliding gamepad. Needless to say, Android 2.3 Gingerbread is running the show.
