If you’re looking for a “different” budget Android smartphone, maybe O2 UK has something for you. The Telefónica-owned operator is now offering the Samsung Galaxy Ace Purple, which as you can imagine is a version of the Galaxy Ace in purple. Not sure why the name change was needed, but hey – God knows what the marketing folks of today’s mobile operators are thinking. As far as I’m concerned it could be just an SEO trick to get people googling “galaxy” and “purple” to O2’s website.
Anyway, aside from the color change, there’s not a single difference under the hood. In other words, expect the same 800MHz processor, 5-megapixel camera, HSPA and Wi-Fi connectivity, GPS, Bluetooth and so on.
The price you ask? O2 is giving away the Galaxy Ace Purple to anyone willing to commit on at least 10.50 GBP per month contract for two years. Needless to say, that plan won’t work for everyone – it comes with only 50 voice minutes and no mobile data at all. So if you do like the purple Galaxy Ace, you better take it with some better plan…
