Beautiful video shows the birth of the Nokia N9, omits part where it goes straight to the grave

Nokia makes beautiful hardware, we all know this, and the N9 is no exception. It’s like a giant version of the rectangular iPod nano, aluminum and all, and reviews all over the web make the MeeGo device sound like a dream. Except for that one minor detail, its Achilles’ heel, MeeGo. Slap some Windows Phone 7 into this thing and we could have a winner (the idea alone makes me a little excited to see the WP7 handsets Nokia has lined up for Nokia World).

I’m just as much a sucker for “making-of” style videos as I am for great hardware. So when you show me automated machinery and humans working in perfect harmony, building beautiful smartphones like the N9, I’d look like someone tripping on some weird drugs in front of the glow of my laptop to some outside observers.

Check out the video for yourself.
