Almost missed this… Sony Ericsson is out of its mind when it wants Xperia blogs to stop what they’re doing. The Swedish-Japanese handset maker is asking the owner of XperiaBlog.net and XperiaX10.net to hand over domains since they infringe on the company’s trademark. Here’s what the sites’ owner said:
Sony Ericsson has filed a formal complaint about the use of the trademarked ‘Xperia’ name in our domain name and have requested that the domain names, including that of XperiaBlog.net, be transferred to them … Sony Ericsson is alleging that we have used the domain names in ‘bad faith’.
Now I can understand there could be some legal implications and that not everyone can use the “Xperia” trademark however they want, but calling it “bad faith” is… well… stupid. The idea should be to have a ton of people loving your products and blogging about it. Of course not all comments will be positive, but that’s just a nature of a conversation… Any thoughts?
