File this under “rumors” and “common sense” at the same time. Apparently Sony Ericsson is working on a new flagship handset that will rock a 720p screen (1280×720 pixels) a la Google Nexus Galaxy. What’s more, the forthcoming Sony Ericsson Xperia Arc HD (or that’s just Sony Xperia Arc HD) is said to come with a full HD video recording support, hinting us it will also sport a dual-core processor.

Release date is unknown at this stage, but judging by the company’s previous launches, it will use the upcoming Mobile World Congress in Barcelona to show the world what they got. Or… if Sony emerges as a single owner of the joint venture in the meantime, they may do that from the floor of CES in Las Vegas. This way, they would instantly get some feedback from the American public and eventually make some deals with local carriers. At this point, Sony Ericsson has a tiny smartphone market share in the U.S. and I’m sure Sony doesn’t like that. In that sense, launching at CES makes perfect sense. We’ll see…
