The King of Pop has returned in Michael Jackson: The Experience HD for iPad

It was over two years ago when Michael Jackson died, but his memory and legacy live on through his music. What better way to celebrate the King of Pop’s legacy than by listening to his music, or even better, playing along with them on your iPad with Ubisoft’s newly released title, Michael Jackson: The Experience HD.

Michael Jackson: The Experience is a rhythm game that places Michael Jackson’s music and iconic dance moves center stage. Players can expect to play one of thirteen classic songs such as Bad, Beat It, Smooth Criminial, Speed Demon, and more. Each song takes the player into the video of that song as each stage will recreate Michael Jackson’s iconic wardrobe, signature moves, and set pieces we all remember from the video.

As with most rhythm games, you’ll be challenged to draw or tap your inputs on your iPad screen according to what the game wants you to do. I’ve been playing this game for about a week now and I can tell you the timing of the inputs are spot on and I can’t help but move along with the game while I’m lounging in my recliner. The game promises thirteen songs, but only four are available when your purchase the game for $4.99. The rest of the songs are available via in-app purchase for $1.99, which I feel is the only downside of this game. I wish Ubisoft would have at least made half of the tracks available, but I’m hoping they’ll make some available for free in the future.

Regardless of that, if you’re a fan of rhythm games, then you’ll enjoy Michael Jackson: The Experience HD as it brings two very important things in rhythm games: great music and great controls. If you’re willing to dish out $18 additional dollars to play all of the songs in the game, which means you’ll spend $23 in total to get the full experience, then maybe you’d want to consider picking up the game for Kinect or PS3 if you’re willing to spend that much money on the iPad version. That is, unless you’re REALLY that big of a Michael Jackson fan and would rather move your pudgy fingers all over your iPad than actually move your body, then go nuts!
