Multiple Ice Cream Sandwich beta ROMs for the Galaxy S II have started to trickle out, according to YouMobile. Floodgates, however, are still not widely open, since the new ROM requires Samsung Kies software and can’t be installed over the air. What’s more, we’re not sure every Galaxy S II user can get its Android 4.0 fix — Kies software updates are known to target select markets so you may not see it just yet.
The 2 ROMs are the following:
- I9100XXKP4 is based on Android 4.0.1 Build date: December, 20 2011
- I9100XXKP8 is based on Android 4.0.3 Build date: December, 30 2011
It is said that most regions will get the KP8 ROM with Android ICS 4.0.3 directly. As far as we can tell, the new software slightly changes the UI, bringing new icons and new on/off toggle to the mix. If you’re in the lucky group and you also like to experiment with Kies updates, please let us know about any changes you notice.
UPDATE: These ICS sandwich updates are leaked developer builds (not official) and require manual intallations. Instructions and ROM downloads are here.
