Mail Online is running a neat article, saying that Brits waste about 134 million GBP ($207 million) of electricity a year by overcharging their mobile phones and laptops.
It is suggested that one in five users leave their devices plugged in once the battery is full because they don’t want to run out of power when they leave the house. On the other hand, 10% admit they are just “too lazy” to pull the plug even though it costs them money, while a quarter of respondents wrongly assume constantly charging gadgets keeps them working properly.
Finally, the article suggests that overcharging batteries is bad both for the budget (about 60 GBP per year per household) and the mobile device’s battery, which is killed in getting slowly killed in this process.
Most of today’s mobile phones simply beep when they’re fully charged so once you hear that sound simply unplug your phone or tablet to save some cash. It’s actually pretty easy. 😉
