Just few days ago we talked about Myriad’s Alien Vue solution that promises to bring Android apps to the TV, and now the company announced partnership with Broadcom to turn this into reality.
As a result, Myriad’s Alien Vue is now supported on a range of Broadcom set-top box platforms, including Dual HD Transcoding MoCA 2.0 Gateway SoC solution which will be demonstrated at the CES next week.
Broadcom-enabled STBs with Myriad Alien Vue also support plug-ins like Myriad Connect & Share, offering multi-screen functionality for personal and premium content. This DLNA solution gives TV consumers access to the Android marketplace while offering operators increased revenue opportunities.
Now we’re eager to see a single (or more) OEMs to jump on board and offer Android-powered set top boxes. According to Broadcom, Alien Vue-based solution enables a quick solution for set-top boxes using legacy operating systems to seamlessly deliver a “smart” entertainment experience.
And before I let you go, check out Alien Vue in action. Enjoy!
