Want March Madness on mobile? Get ready to pay up

March Madness on Mobile will cost you

We’re just a few weeks away from one of the best sports events out there and March Madness will be filling up TV screens and streaming for free on many computers. If you want to watch games on your smartphone though, you better be prepared to pay a few bucks.

This is a bit of a change from last year, as mobile access was free but CBS and Turner will have a $3.99 fee to get the live stream on your mobile device, according to PaidContent. I’d imagine this will apply to your iPhone, Android and various tablets.

That’s not the only change, as you’ll still be able to view games on a computer for free but you’ll have to go through an authentication process. While it sucks that they’re moving to a paid model for mobile, this isn’t the first time March Madness has costed money on the go and I’m sure there will be plenty of people willing to pay for it. If you actually break down the amount of content you’re getting for that cash, it’s still a pretty good deal.

Of course, now that it’s paid, CBS and Turner have no excuses for any real glitches or delays on mobile. Are any of you going to pay to get March Madness on the go? Also, who’s going to win it this year?
