ING Direct, has debut something cool for all you latte sipping San Franciscans (ahem, Marin), with the release of eight new iPad kiosks in its fresh ING Direct Cafe in downtown. This upgrade not only lets customers indulge in sugary soft drinks, but does away with the old boring way they get assistance with depositing checks or discussing their retirement accounts. The financial institution replaced its traditional teller’s window with a bar serving coffee, tea, pastries, sandwiches and salads.
These newly minted iPad stations are mounted on a table below a multiscreen display, and each feature a stained wood finish reinforced by a steel enclosure secured with a key lock. All the wood and steel cost the cafe about three grand. When it comes to the technology side of things, each iPad display is connected by Apple’s HDMI iPad connector and is controlled by an A/V application that handles the audiovisual equipment throughout the whole café. Customers are loving this new cafe, as they should.
“Customers are amazed by the unique opportunity to have touchscreen interactivity with these iPad kiosks,” said by a representative of the cafe. “For the first time, customers can walk into a public venue like this and set up a business meeting with everything at their fingertips. With the ability to switch between watching TV and projecting Web content, these iPad kiosks are offering an entirely new coffee shop experience.”
This is some trendy stuff right here, I wish more financials would follow suit because going to the bank nowadays is just so boring. I’d love to eat a sandwich and sip on a latte (preferably with soy milk), while I wait for some representative to assist me on my account.
