HTC’s new One line brings powerful devices like the One X and One S to the table but that doesn’t necessarily mean that the new family is limited to high-end devices, and proof of this comes in the form of the One V. This little handset is destined to be in the pockets of first time smartphone buyers with the specs under the hood, and also brings back memories of some of HTC’s previous devices.
Unlike the quad-core One X and the dual-core One S, the One V has a single-core 1GHz processor running the show. Couple this with a 3.7 inch WVGA Super LCD display, 5 megapixel camera, and the same jutting chin found on the original HTC Hero and Legend and it would seem that the One V is stuck in the past. Be that as it may, I’m personally glad to see the return of the chin.
Like the other handsets in the One family, the One V will lack a removable battery and expandable storage in favor of the free 25GB of Dropbox storage and to keep the profile thinner. The One V closely resembles the likes of the HTC Legend with its unibody aluminum materials, which definitely isn’t a bad thing. Overall, the One V’s chin keeps it from looking as svelte as the other handsets within the One family but it should easily get you where you need to go if you’re on a budget.
Expect the One V to have Beats support, providing a very nice audio experience whether you’re listening to music or watching videos. With Beats more heavily integrated in HTC’s newer handsets, even the lower end One V can benefit from it, and so will you.
With no definitive launch date set for the handset, we should see the One V hit store shelves shortly after the One X and One V become available within the coming months.
