Samsung’s ridiculously large 5.3 inch Galaxy Note has thus far been sold in just two different colors: classy black, and gorgeous white. Today at CeBIT, which is kind of like the European version of the Consumer Electronics Show, the folks at Engadget spotted a pink Galaxy Note dummy unit. When they asked Samsung whether or not this means we’ll see the Note in that particular hue, the company confirmed that yes, it’s indeed going to be real, and that we’re going to see it within the next two months. For those of you who need a little reminder as to what makes the Note special, besides the 5.3 inch 1280 x 800 pixel AMOLED display, there’s a 1.5 GHz dual core Samsung made Exynos processor under the hood, 1 GB of RAM, 8 megapixel camera, a massive 2,500 mAh battery that many say lasts for several days, and 21 Mbps HSPA+, though in some countries you can get an NFC and 4G LTE enabled variant.
Should you buy the Note? That’s a personal decision you need to make based on your comfort level with large screened devices. I finally got to play with one last week and the salesperson was kind enough to let me put one in my pocket so I could see how I’d get along with it, and I’m shocked to report that it’s surprisingly not that bad. What really threw me off though was how light the Note was. And I’m not talking “oh wow, this is so light, awesome!”, this was more like a “Jesus Christ, this thing is going to fall apart in my hands!” kind of feeling. Maybe they’ll make the second version better?
If you want my personal opinion, I say wait until the Galaxy S III. We know the Galaxy S II eventually got a pink variant, so it wouldn’t be a stretch to say that the Galaxy S III will as well.
