ConnecTV unveiled its March Madness line-up of new features for the biggest month in sports television. From Selection Sunday to the Final Four, the popular social TV service will offer fans access to the “deepest cache of news and information about the nationwide college competition.”
For instance, you’ll get at-a-glance player bios, real-time team and player stats for the game you’re currently watching as well as the entire season. In addition, ConnecTV will use what it says is the first-ever “timeout detector” that will turn dull lags into the action with tons of compelling information, including game scores from around the league and NCAA news and highlights.
But that’s not all, viewers will also be able to “go back” in time to see info about previous top plays in the game with all the related statistics – and then tap the “LIVE” button to return to ConnecTV coverage of the current game.
Furthermore, NCAA fans can play along with a new “ConnecTV Madness Squares” blind pool, which is a multi-player game designed for the Final Four.
Finally, ConnecTV will host an NCAA Championship Viewing Party (in partnership with the Social TV Summit) at the Elephant and Castle Pub and Restaurant in San Francisco on April 2 from 6 – 9 p.m. The first 150 registered attendees will be able to play along with the Championship game on their iPads while enjoying free food and drink, social TV games and prizes. One lucky attendee will win a ConnecTV branded iPad 3.
