Eventbrite is going beyond software and services, having launched its first hardware product – At The Door Card Reader for iPad. As you can imagine, this device is used to collect credit card payments right at the event venue.
It works in tandem with the At The Door app and is available from Eventbrite’s new Brite Store for just $10, the amount that will be automatically reimbursed in the purchaser’s Eventbrite account.
The benefits of using a Eventbrite’s device are clear with event organizers getting all of their data — both on-site sales and online sales — from a single location (Eventbrite’s website).
The device itself connects to the iPad using the 30-pin adapter (rather than the headphone jack) ensuring for good reads every time and is capable to process more than 400 transactions per hour. Moreover, it can be integrated with the Star TSP143 printer for tickets and customer receipts, while keeping user data safe by encrypting information right on the reader.
Prior to launch, At The Door was tested successfully with several events, including Meatopia, The Orange County BBQ Festival and the IFPDA Print Faire.
