Good news for savvy fruit slicers with Android users – Halfbrick’s super popular game, Fruit Ninja, got a small yet important update.

First there’s a new item to slice, pomegranate, which can bring you more points than any other fruit. The second main thing is multiplayer support that works both locally and globally when connected to the internet.

In addition, the application permissions have been slightly changed to make online matchmaking possible. On the other hand, permissions for Camera and Contacts have been removed (guess users had some privacy concerns).

Finally, a bug of the previous version (1.7.5) that caused some people to lose their Fruit Ninja saves has been fixed. However when you start this version you will be back at the progress level you were in the previous update (so you could lose data from the last 48 hours).

What can we say except update Fruit Ninja now or get it if you still don’t have it running on your Android device. 😉
