Rdio doesn’t just want to watch Spotify conquering the subscription market – it wants to do something about it. The streaming service has recently expanded to new markets, including Germany, Brazil, Portugal, Spain, Australia, New Zealand and Denmark, with plans to expand to other European countries and Asia in a few months.
In an interview with paidContent, Rdio’s Scott Bagby — the guy who led the international expansion of Skype — talked about different markets the company is targeting. For instance, in Brazil users have issues with skepticism on credit card payments with people more trusting their mobile providers. In comparison, Scandinavians don’t have those issues and are more willing to pay for products and services online…
We’re definitely looking forward to see the streaming music market expanding with new entrants emerging, eventually making the service more affordable to the end users…
