eBay launched a new version of its iPad app, which is said to come as a result of over two years of insight into consumer tablet shopping habits. As a result, the free to download application provides a “new streamlined and visually stimulating shopping experience,” the phrase that includes new design with customizable home screen, ultra-high resolution item images, ability to view search results in three ways and additional notifications. Moreover, some of the top user-requested features have also been added, including revise listings, back button and improved search.
The “window shopping” experience eBay for iPad 2.0 brings is achieved through content-forward design with big pictures, flick’able photos and quick access to key information. Other updates include PayPal-based in-app payments and a direct link to “Watch With eBay” for a “smoother browsing experience.”
For the record, eBay has over 78 million downloads of its suite of apps globally, 12 million in Q1 2012 alone. Through mobile, eBay added 3.2 million new customers in Q1, 455k of whom were new to eBay.
Finally, it’s worth adding that more than 1 million listings are now made every week through eBay mobile as people take advantage of the speed of uploading items they want to sell.
