Appcelerator announced that it is working with RIM to accelerate the creation of BlackBerry 10 applications by leveraging its mobile ecosystem. Under the deal, Appcelerator will allow its 300,000+ Titanium developers to easily make cloud-connected apps for yet another platform (in addition to iOS and Android).
Appcelerator developers create native, hybrid, and HTML5 mobile web apps for a variety of devices. The company also has hundreds of integration, technology, and training partners, while its Open Mobile Marketplace provides modules to extend the Titanium platform to build, connect, test, manage and analyze mobile apps.
There are no doubts RIM could use some additional boost to make its platform more appealing to developers and partnering with Appcelerator looks like a move in the right direction. We’ll see what developers think about it…
And before I let you go, let me add that both companies seem satisfied with the deal. commenting they are “pleased to work with each other.” Appcelerator CEO Jeff Haynie even added they look forward to help RIM “stock the shelves” with new applications for BlackBerry 10 customers.
