According to a report by The Verge, T-Mobile CEO Philipp Humm sent a memo to employees that details the carrier’s next round of restructuring. As expected, the restructuring plan includes the layoff of an unknown number of employees. These cutbacks will streamline the company and return it to growth.
This isn’t the first time employees have faced cutbacks. Earlier this year, the carrier eliminated over 1,000 jobs when it closed and consolidated several call centers. Though the recent memo did not name which groups would be targeted for layoffs, the carrier did say that this next round of layoffs will not affect “the remaining 17 call centers, technicians in engineering, and frontline employees in our T-Mobile corporate-owned stores.”
Update: The Wall Street Journal is reporting that T-Mobile plans to get rid of 900 jobs in this latest round of cuts.
