Orange’s big press day is over and now we know that the first Intel Atom-powered smartphone will launch in Europe on June 6th. Previously we knew this device as Orange Santa Clara, but it will sold as Orange San Diego, which is still in line with the carrier’s “policy” to use city names for its own-brand devices.
We already know the Santa Clara’s/San Diego’s guts – it rocks an Intel Atom CPU clocked at 1.6GHz, 4-inch WVGA screen, 1GB of RAM, HSPA+ and Wi-Fi connectivity, dual cameras, GPS, Bluetooth and 16GB of built-in storage. However, we didn’t know that 8-megapixel rear camera will come with the so called Burst mode allowing it to take 10 pictures in under a second to ensure you “capture all the action” and can choose the very best pictures to keep.
Moreover, a number of Orange apps will also come preloaded, including Orange Wednesdays (cinema ticket app), Your Orange (so you can easily manage your Orange account) and Orange Gestures (for one-stroke access to your favorite apps).
The San Diego will be available for 199.99 GBP on Pay As You Go and for the first 12 months, customers also get 250MB of free data per month. Alternatively, postpaid users can get the device for free on a two-year contract starting at just 15.50 GBP per month…
