Make Google Voice calls using your Nexus 7 tablet

A 7-inch tablet like the Nexus 7 may be a bit unwieldy to hold to your ear, but that doesn’t stop people from trying to use it to make a phone call. XDA Senior Member bongostl encourages Nexus 7 owners to take the plunge and make a call using Google Voice. In a thread at xda-developers, he provides users with a set of instructions that’ll enable Google Voice on the device. The tweak requires owners to modify the tablet’s framework-res.apk file in a way that will make the tablet think it is voice capable.

The hack reportedly works on the stock ROM, but not custom ROMS. Users with custom ROMS say they get stuck in a boot loop after modifying the framework-res file, so proceed with caution if you are running another flavor of Android on your tablet device. You can find all the information on the hack and receive support from the community on the thread over at xda-developers.
