Sprint to help Dish launch its MVNO?

Aside from using it to operate its own businesses like Boost Mobile and Virgin Mobile, Sprint also leases its network to third parties like Ting, FreedomPop, Republic Wireless, Voyager Mobile and Elevate. That, however, isn’t enough with the carrier now approaching Dish Network to help them establish their own wireless company using Now Network’s airwaves. However, it seems that Sprint wants to go beyond “standard MVNO arrangement” and use a portion of the satellite company’s spectrum for its own purposes.

We don’t have the full picture but we do know that Dish has started offering mobile phones through Blockbuster’s website with some rumors suggesting Blockbuster’s brick-and-mortar stores could also start selling wireless products and services soon. And while we always support more competition, we can’t really imagine Dish fighting the big boys. Perhaps they see something we don’t, perhaps not. Time will tell…
