CES 2013: Asus confirms Q1 2013 availability of the Android/Windows Transformer AiO

Asus  introduced the Transformer AiO last year and used CES to confirm the Q1 2013 availability of the Windows 8 desktop-Android tablet hybrid. Pricing is not yet available.

The Transformer AiO is an all-in-one PC that doubles as an Android 4.1 tablet. The 18.4-inch device is a full Windows 8 desktop powered by an Intel processor and NVIDIA GT 730M GPU. When you want something a bit more mobile, you can detach the display and it transforms into an Android 4.1 tablet with an NVIDIA Tegra 3 processor.

It’s an interesting concept that stirs the pot in the AiO market, which is dominated by ultrathin desktops that are stationary. It’ll be interesting to see if people consider the 18.4-inch tablet to be a useful device for around the house or office or if it’s merely a gimmick.
