Windows Phone-powered Nokia Lumia EOS with 41-megapixel camera hitting US in the summer?

We’ve already heard that Nokia is planning to bring its monster camera technology to the Windows Phone platform. As a result, we should get a device with a 808 PureView-like camera sensor and modern mobile OS. However, we still don’t know when that will happen…

According to an article at The Guardian, this summer Nokia will release a PureView Windows Phone device in the US. Dubbed Nokia EOS (or that’s Nokia Lumia EOS), it will have a 41-megapixel sensor that will enable powerful digital zoom capabilities.

The information apparently comes from “sources close to the Finnish handset maker” though Nokia obviously declined to comment.

The way I see it, Microsoft (and Nokia for that matter) need something special to entice users to switch to Windows Phone. A massive 41-megapixel camera sensor along with some great camera software could certainly help people move in that direction. We’ll see how that goes and whether the Finnish company will have something of that sort show us at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona…
