In an image sent to Angry Birds fansite Angry Birds Nest today, Rovio hinted at the new installment of the Seasons franchise. This coming episode will bring the tally up to 16 for this flavor of Birds. Like previous episodes, this release will correspond with the current season (at least for those of us in the Northern hemisphere) and will be spring themed.
My apologies to Birds fans desperate for their next fix (I feel your pain!), but Rovio has yet to share any further information about the levels, content, special items or even a release date for this episode. According to Angry Birds Nest, Rovio did announce one fan requested change to the leaderboards in this update. After this release scores gained using power ups will be indicated and appear differently than scores obtained the old-fashioned way, through hard work and gumption.
Otherwise Rovio’s keeping mum for the time being, only teasing us with this cryptic image.
The starry sky motif looks great and hints at the potential for an art style reminiscent of spring evenings. But the most compelling aspect of the image, obviously, is the vortex sucking up the text. Could Rovio be adding Angry Birds Space-like black holes to Seasons? Is it some other type of portal with new and exciting properties? Could it be a clever misdirection and not as it seems?
We’ll just have to wait and see. So, Rovio, while we’re waiting how about some New Angry Birds Star Wars content too?
