Microsoft has teamed-up with email experts from SEVEN to launch an updated Outlook.com app for Android. The new version of the application looks like it’s made for Windows Phone rather than Google’s mobile platform, but we like it nevertheless. In addition to updated UI, it also brings filters for unread and flagged messages, conversation threading and the ability to mark messages as junk.

According to Microsoft’s “official blog post,” you’ll get the best mobile experience if your email client can “handle” Exchange ActiveSync. However, some Android devices don’t support the capability and for them, the new Outlook.com app comes as a savior, allowing them to keep managing their email while on the go.

We applaud Microsoft for going beyond Windows Phone to support users on other mobile platforms… cause they [users] still need to get their email.
