A report from AllThingsD suggests Google may be interested in acquiring Waze, the popular, crowd-sourced navigation service out of Israel. According to Globes, the deal could be worth up to $1.3 billion.
Sources close to the situation claim Waze will remain an independent company and will likely continue to operate out of Israel. This latest rumor comes hot on the heels of an earlier rumor that claimed Facebook was courting Waze and close to signing an acquisition agreement. This Facebook deal reportedly fell through because Waze wanted to keep its operations in Israel and not move to the US.
Neither Google nor Waze commented on the report.
