FFXIII: Lighting Returns Pre Order DLC Revealed -FFVII Fans, Get Pumped!

Square Enix announced some pretty exciting pre-order bonuses for its upcoming FFXIII threequel, Lighting Returns. Fan favorite Final Fantasy VII lends some of its hero Cloud Strife’s signature gear to Lightning.

The Soldier 1st Class outfit DLC comes with Cloud’s Buster Sword and Soldier’s Band. You can see Lightning sporting Cloud’s gear in the image above. In an especially cool move, Cloud’s finishing animation from FFVII can be performed by Lightning and the FFVII version of Final Fantasy’s classic “Victory Fanfare” music will play (!!!!).  Square Enix also has teased that some of Cloud’s abilities will unlockable for Lightning to use, though there’s no more information at this time.

Final Fantasy VII is considered by many fans to be the pinnacle of the series, and folks have been clamoring for an HD remake since the announcement of the PS3. Square Enix may cave to those demands someday, until then they’ll keep cashing in on fans’ nostalgia with little nods like this.

I won’t lie, I’ve watched that video 5 times and I’m totally pre ordering! The E3 trailer for Lighting Returns  made it look super fun, and I’m a fan of the world of FFXIII, if not some of the choices made in the game’s execution.

Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns is slated for release on PS3 and Xbox 360 Feb. 11, 2014. Check out Lightning slicing up some Cactuars with the Buster Sword below!
