InfoSonics unveiled a new member of its verykool family of smartphones – verykool RS90 aka Vortex. The affordable device — it will cost $279 sans any strings attached — rocks mid-range specs and ruggedized body with an ingress protection rating of IP67 (indicating that it is both dust proof and waterproof). In addition, it also packs a 4.5-inch qHD (540×960 pixels) screen, 1.2GHz dual-core processor, 3G and Wi-Fi connectivity, 5-megapixel rear and VGA front cameras and 1800mAh battery, while Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich is running the show. Best of all, users will be able to choose between single- and dual-SIM models, the latter allowing them to use a single device on two different (GSM-based) networks.

We don’t like the fact that the verykool RS90 Vortex doesn’t run Jelly Bean out of box, but I guess we expect a lot for $280. Remember that this isn’t just a mid-end smartphone, but also the one that won’t stop working even after being accidentally dropped onto a concrete. Check out this page if some of this sounds exciting to you…
