The hot-new Nokia Lumia 1020 will be available in the UK on September 5th. That, at least, is the date given by Expansys, one of the biggest electronics retailers.
Expansys is accepting pre-orders for the unlocked unit for £599.99 (about $926) which is kinda steep. One other retailer, Unlocked Mobiles has a 50 GBP lower price tag though it doesn’t say anything about the shipping date. That said, we doubt Expansys will have some exclusive launch window and even if it does, we’re talking about just a few days or so. Moreover, we would assume major operators in the country will also be selling the Lumia 1020, most likely giving it away with plans starting at about 30 GBP per month.
Again, the Nokia Lumia 1020 is arguably the best camera-phone ever made. It has a massive 41-megapixel camera sensor with PureView oversampling technology and Xenon flash. There’s also a 4.5-inch 1280×768 pixels screen, 3G/4G and Wi-Fi connectivity, 1.5GHz dual-core processor, 2GB of RAM, 1.2-megapixel front-facing camera and 32GB of non-expandable memory. Windows Phone 8 is running the show with few of Nokia’s customizations singing on top.
