BlackBerry C-Series device codenamed Americano caught in the wild

A new, still unannounced BlackBerry device has been caught in the wild. According to BBIN (and brought to our attention by CrackBerry), what you can see above is a device from the Canadian company’s C-Series, codenamed Americano. As you can see for yourself, this unit looks very much like the newly unveiled BlackBerry Z30 though it’s smaller.

The sources say it will have a 4.2- or 4.5-inch 720p screen, and a 5-megapixel camera on the back. As for processor used, the Americano will either use the “standard for BlackBerry” Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 Pro or Snapdragon 400 SoC, both of which are usually found in Android’s mid-end products; but that’s not the point – BlackBerry phones run super fast as the company managed to optimize the platform for its hardware.

It is still unknown when or even whether this model will hit the market. Now that BlackBerry announced smaller portfolio of devices (along with layoffs), this unit may be scraped and something better released. Or this could be their next phone for the mid-end of the market. We’ll have to wait for another few more months to get all the answers. Stay tuned in the meantime…
