Motorola bum-rushing Waterloo to hire former BlackBerry employees

Motorola is ready to go hunting for some new talent, and what better place to look than BlackBerry’s hometown of Waterloo? According to a report from the Financial Post, the Google owned company is looking to set up shop there. Motorola already has a small office out in BlackBerry land, but it plans to expand operations by building a larger presence that’ll be filled with engineers.

It sucks when anyone loses their job, so when BlackBerry announced it was letting go 4,500 people — it was grim news written all over. So clearly there will be more than enough talented people Google’s Motorola can pick through.

Waterloo is known throughout the industry as a hub for gifted engineers and tech-savvy workers, it’s Canada’s Silicon Valley.
