Samsung unveils an ultra-stable 13-megapixel smartphone camera module

Samsung is upping the ante on current smartphone camera technology with a new camera module that has an extra-stable sensor to help you avoid those disappointing Mr. Blurrycam shots.

The new 13-megapixel module is able to compensate for jostling beyond the normal limits of what most current cameras can handle. It also boasts of excellent low-light capabilities that are eight times better than preceding modules. As is the case with most technology improvements, Samsung managed to cram better features into a module that is the same size ( 10.5 x 10.5 x 5.9mm) as current offerings.

Samsung’s 13-megapixel camera will be mass produced starting in early 2014 and is being developed with input from “leading smartphone manufacturers.” This is good news for camera fans as it means the module likely won’t be a Samsung exclusive.
