Next year will be important for Allwinner, which is preparing to bring quite a few chips to the market. Among products the Chinese company will launch is the 8-core processor we’ve told you about, featuring ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture with four slower Cortex-A7 and four powerful Cortex-A15 cores.

But that’s not all, Allwinner will also be launching quad-core CPUs and — here’s the really cool part — chips for wearable devices like smart watches. Yup, if Qualcomm can do it, so can Allwinner though it may not have a reference design… just yet.

Going further to 2015, the Chinese company will launch its first 64-bit processors running A53 and A57 architecture.

Right now, Allwinner’s main rival is Taiwanese MediaTek which makes affordable processors for low-cost smartphones and tablets, and is well ahead of the game with its 8-core chip hitting the market later this year. In other words, Allwinner has a lot of catching up to do, but somehow we think they’re well placed to keep growing its market share…
