Alcatel Idol X+ with MediaTek's octa-core chip coming soon?

MediaTek is about to announce its 8-core processor, MT6592, and TCL wants to have an Alcatel-branded device with this new chip. Yup, it plans to launch a successor to the sexy Idol X that will get the power from no less than eight cores.

The original Idol X came with MediaTek’s 1.2Ghz MT6589 quad-core CPU and the forthcoming one will be much faster. It will, however, face a competition from a few little-known (at least in the West) Chinese vendors like ZOPO, Mlais and Green Orange, all of whom have confirmed octa-core phone launches this week.

What sets TCL apart from many other OEMs in China is that its phones are available across the globe. They still face some distribution problems, namely making deals with major carriers, but that could change soon. Yeah, we hope they’ll have more luck with the Idol X+…
