HTC held a presentation in Taiwan to unveil few new low- and mid-end Desire smartphones. Here’s what’s new:

HTC Desire 700

Looks like a cheap version of the HTC One, with specs that include:

  • 5-inch qHD screen
  • Qualcomm-made quad-core chip, most likely Snapdragon 400
  • 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage
  • 8-megapixel rear camera with BSI sensor and f/2.0 aperture, 2.1MP front-facing camera (again with BSI sensor)
  • BoomSound front-facing speakers
  • Dual SIM support
  • 2,100 mAh battery

The phone is priced NTD 13,900 in Taiwan, which translates into some $470.

HTC Desire 501

  • 4.3-inch WVGA screen
  • 1.15GHz dual-core processor
  • 1GB of RAM, 8GB of internal storage
  • 8-megapixel rear camera with BSI sensor and f/2.0 aperture, 2.1MP front-facing camera (again with BSI sensor)
  • 2,100 mAh battery

The Desire 501 will cost NTD 9,900 ($330) in Taiwan.

HTC Desire 601 Dual SIM

The dual-SIM version of the Desire 601 is very similar to the Desire 701, though it doesn’t have an 8-megapixel camera. Here are the specs:

  • 4.5-inch qHD screen
  • 1.2GHz dual-core processor
  • 1GB of RAM, 4GB of internal storage
  • 5-megapixel rear camera
  • BoomSound front-facing speakers
  • Dual SIM support

This one is priced NTD 10,900 ($370).

In addition, HTC also showed off the Desire 300, but there’s nothing new about that. It’s the cheapest of the bunch, costing NTD 7,900 ($270). And we’ve no idea when (or even whether) any of these three will ever be released in the West.
