Google has acquired Bitspin, a Zurich, Switzerland-based company that makes the fairly popular Timely Alarm Clock app. For the time being, the application will remain to be available for download from the Google Play Store, and additional themes and sounds which used to be cost money (via in-app purchase) are now free.
For those who haven’t heard about Timely Alarm Clock before, it is a fancy alarm clock app for Android, featuring a “stunning user experience” and “revolutionary cloud integration” to backup and synchronize your alarms with multiple devices. As I’m writing this, the app has 4.4 out of 5 stars rating, as rated by more than 42,000 users.
It’s unclear what Google will use Bitspin for but we do hope to see this alarm clock shipping with some future version of Android. Moreover, we would also assume this acquisition was also made to get the top talent in Switzerland. Google doesn’t reveal its plans that easily and we’ll have to wait a little longer to see what they’ll end up doing with Bitspin’s tech & staff.
