Xbox One Sales Reached 3 Million in 2013

If you thought the lack of online  and in-store availability has made the PS4 the hottest selling gaming console, well, you might be right. Still, that hardly means that the Xbox One isn’t selling well. In fact, Microsoft has announced that it’s sold 3 million Xbox One units in 2013.

From the Xbox blog:

Together, we ushered in a new era of games and entertainment with Xbox One. Over 3 million Xbox One consoles were sold to consumers in 13 countries before the end of 2013. It’s been incredible to see Xbox One selling at a record-setting pace for Xbox, and we were honored to see Xbox One become the fastest-selling console in the U.S. during our launch month in November. Since our launch, demand for Xbox One has been strong, selling out throughout the holidays at most retailers worldwide. We are continuing to work hard to deliver additional consoles to retailers as fast as possible.

The price difference between the Xbox One and Playstation 4 might be negligible to gamers, but the inclusion of the Kinect 2 with the Xbox One definitely adds a fair amount of value to Microsoft’s offering. Still, at the end of the day it all comes down to the personal preference of gamers.

Best of all, we’re just beginning to see the real sales of the console, as we’re sure there are plenty of potential buyers out there that are simply waiting for a larger catalog of game titles to be released. Still, 3 million units sold since late November isn’t a bad start.
