Polaroid Socialmatic smart camera can print photos instantly, bring back nostalgia

Polaroid is returning to its roots, launching a camera that can instantly print photos. That’s right, the Socialmatic is a fancy gadget that will bring back the “good ol’ days” for many folks, while also providing them with some advanced features along the way. You see, this is an Android-powered device that has many (if not all) capabilities you would expect from a modern smartphone or tablet with access to a number of different apps. The added feat is the integrated printer that can instantly turn your digital photos into their physical counterparts, printing them out to a 2 x 3 inch sheet of paper.

The main camera has a 14-megapixel sensor, and there’s also another one with 2-megapixel sensor for taking the ever-popular selfies. You only get 4GB of internal storage that can be further expanded with microSD memory cards. Plus, let’s not forget a 4.5-inch screen where you’ll be able to check out the photos you’ve taken, and even add effects prior to tapping the “print” button.

We kinda like the Polaroid Socialmatic but are unsure whether there are enough folks out there looking for something like this. Nostalgia could be a nice selling point but the addition of the integrated printer adds a ton to the price, making this camera rather expensive for the majority of folks. Actually we don’t know the price, but are assuming it will cost more than comparable phones with similar capabilities (without the printer, of course)… So we’re eager to know – how do you like the Socialmatic and would you consider buying it? Comments form is all yours.
