80,000 People Have Broken Up With Their Carriers and Jumped in Bed With T-Mobile

Bad Boy T-Mobile CEO John Legere is quite the home wrecker it seems. The NSFW head of T-Mobile initiated a war on all major carriers last week when he announced the company’s Uncarrier 4.0 moves, which lure customers away from other wireless carriers by paying off their early termination fees for dropping their current contract and jumping on board with T-Mobile. Now T-Mobile is claiming that over 80,000 people have done just that. The numbers come from T-Mobile’s “breakup letter,” which customers are encouraged to make once they make the switch to T-Mo from their underperforming network.

Last week at CES in Las Vegas, Legere also announced that T-Mobile saw amazing increases in customers, which included 4.4 million new subscribers in 2013, the best T-Mobile has done in eight long years.

“Customers from the three major national carriers who hand in their eligible devices at any participating T-Mobile location and switch to a postpaid Simple Choice Plan can receive an instant credit, based on the value of their phone, of up to $300. They then purchase any eligible device, including T-Mobile’s most popular smartphones, now priced at $0 down (plus 24 monthly device payments, for well-qualified customers). After customers get the final bill from their old carrier (showing their early termination fees), they either mail it to T-Mobile or upload it to www.switch2tmobile.com. T-Mobile then sends an additional payment equal to those fees, up to $350 per line. Trade-in of their old phone, purchase of a new T-Mobile phone and porting of their phone number to T-Mobile are required to qualify.”

So there you have it, the plan is working and quite well I might add. If you’d like to see some of the hilarious breakup letters, just head here and get ready to see tons of happy people giving AT&T, Verizon and Sprint the bird. They’re pretty good.
