Just as we expected, LG has officially announced the G Pro 2 in Korea. The successor to the Optimus G Pro is one of the best devices ever made, with some features even the Samsung Galaxy Note 3 is missing. To help you cut through the clutter, we wanted to highlight the G Pro 2’s key selling point. Here 6 things you should know about it:

1. Processor / Memory
The G Pro 2 rocks Qualcomm’s potent Snapdragon 800 quad-core chip clocked at 2.26GHz with Adreno 330 graphics and full 3GB of RAM. In addition, it comes with 16 or 32 GB of internal storage that is further expandable with microSD cards.

2. Screen
This big boy packs a 5.9-inch full HD (1920 x 1080) IPS display with slim bezel of just 3.3mm. This in turn provides the industry-leading screen-to-frame ratio of 77.2 percent!

3. Sound
Compared to its predecessor, the G Pro 2 is 30% louder. LG managed to achieve this by using a thicker, high-power 1W Hi-Fi speaker that promises to deliver “clearer sound with more powerful bass.” We can’t wait to see how it fares against HTC One.

4. Camera
Camera is one of the G Pro 2’s highlights. On the back, it has a 13-megapixel camera with OIS+ (Optical Image Stabilizer Plus) technology that adds software anti-shake functionality to the hardware-based feature already built into the slim camera module. This camera can shoot video in 4K resolution as well as in slow-mo at 120FPS. In addition, the underlying software also includes some cool capabilities like Magic Focus, Natural Flash, Flash for Selfie and Burst Shot. The front-facing camera has a 2.1-megapixel sensor.

5. Software
Android 4.4 KitKat is running the show right from the get-go with LG’s own software singing on top. Arguably, the most significant feature is Knock Code, which builds on top of Knock On feature introduced with the LG G2. This technology allows users to unlock their phablet in one step by tapping the screen in any one of 86,367 different combinations. Plus let’s not forget the Content Lock that provides users with an extra dose of security, allowing them to lock their files, photos, videos and memos.

6. Availability
Yet to be determined. We know the G Pro 2 will soon be available in South Korea, though.

And more

  • Battery – the LG G Pro 2 rocks a removable 3,200 mAh battery. In comparison, the original G Pro came with a 3,140 mAh battery.
  • Size – 157.9 x 81.9 x 8.3mm, weight – 172 grams
  • Colors: Titan, White, Red
