A new, still unannounced Samsung device has been spotted while getting approval from China’s Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center, which is known as Tenaa. What you can see here is a low-to-end smartphone that comes with a twist. Actually, there are two things about this phone that make it an interesting product.
First, it has a metal body, which is a rare feat for Samsung smartphones. Is that just a start of the trend with more Sammy-made metal devices coming afterwards, or what? We’re not sure.
The second thing is the fact the Samsung SM-G3858 has an unusual bump on the upper side of its rear case, which suggests this model could house a pico-projector. Hence we think it could be the Galaxy Beam 2.
Unfortunately though, rest of the specs are everything but impressive and include a 4.66-inch WVGA screen, 1.2GHz quad-core processor, 1GB of RAM, 5-megapixel rear camera with LED flash and VGA front-facing camera, while Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean is running the show. This particular unit is heading to China Mobile, and at this stage we’re not sure whether some international version will follow suit. We’ll let you know if/when we hear something like that…
