A new USB Type-C connector was announced at the end of last year, and now we have the first image of the cable with this connector to show you.

The render image you can see above hails from the folks over at Foxconn, depicting a microUSB plug that works on both sides. With a cable like this one, no longer will you need to worry about its orientation, cause it’s reversible! And guess what? It’s also faster, relying on USB 3.1 specification to deliver speeds of up to 10Gbps, making it nearly double that of the common speeds found in USB 3.0.

Yeah it kinda looks like Apple’s Lightning cable and we can only hope that some legal action won’t stop this cable from entering the mass production phase. Speaking of which [production], we’ve no idea when you will be able to get one of these but we do hope this will be a short wait. More to come, obviously.
