Meizu may be looking to enter the smart watch market; what else the image above could suggest? According to GizChina, the image reads “Look at your watch. Do you have this type of habit?”
Now, we don’t know whether the Chinese phone maker will indeed join the “wrist revolution,” or is just mocking the entire sector, all with Google’s Android Wear initiative.
Meizu is known for using its own Flyme skin that runs on top of Android, and I’m not sure they dig Google’s idea to prevent OEMs from customizing the Android Wear. Perhaps this time round Meizu caves in; or perhaps they take the DIY route and build their own platform on top of AOSP (Android Open Source Project). Sony did this and so did Samsung, though it later abandoned that idea in favor of its own Tizen OS.
Presuming Meizu does embrace the smart watch revolution, it will be interesting to see what they can add to the table. The company makes some of the sexiest Android phones which are usually a bit different from the rest of the pack. For instance, Meizu’s current flagship (MX3) has a 5.1-inch screen with unique resolution of 1080 x 1800 pixels. One gotta wonder what they have in store for our wrists? And yes, we hope to see their products hitting many markets across the Western hemisphere…
