Yet again, Sony is gearing towards launching what could be the best “Mini” smartphone out there. Forget about Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini and the upcoming LG G3 Mini – Sony will yet again have the best pocketable smartphone with its forthcoming Xperia Z3 Compact.

According to the leaked screenshot, this little fella will rock the Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 chip (clocked at 2.5GHz) which is powering most of today’s super-phones, including the Samsung Galaxy S5, LG G3, HTC One M8 as well as Sony’s own Xperia Z2. In addition, the “new Compact” will also pack 2GB of RAM, 4.5-inch 720p HD screen, Sony’s standard top-end camera with 20.7-megapixel sensor on the back and 2.1MP front-facing camera, while Android 4.4 KitKat will run the show. We would guess that just like Sammy’s model, the Xperia Z3 Compact will too have a water- and dust-resistant body, though that part is still unconfirmed.

Another unconfirmed thing is the release date. Chances are we’ll have to wait for the “back to school” season to see the Japanese company launching its latest Compact device. In the meantime, if you want a “Mini” phone, you’re still best off getting the Sony Xperia Z1 Compact which easily beats the newly announced Samsung Galaxy S5 Mini. If you don’t need a heart rate sensor, that is…
