Just when we wondered what could be more expensive than a Vertu handset, the luxury phone maker came out with an answer – a Bentley-branded Vertu phone.
The two luxury product makers are teaming up to create mobile devices for the 1% of the world’s population, the folks who “can’t bear” owning the regular devices such as the iPhone 5s, Samsung Galaxy S5 or HTC One M8. These guys and gals need something extra to show the world they are special, unique, at the top of the food chain. And they need to show it off, and regular phones just don’t cut it.
The first Bentley Vertu smartphone is slated to launch in October and will be followed by four “further distinctive luxury smartphones,” each of which will encompass “authentic and iconic Bentley design elements and luxury lifestyle services.”
What this means is that these phones will pretty much scream “I’m rich,” so you don’t have to. We expect top-notch features and extensive/excessive use of “luxury performance materials.” These objects will shine in the dark, letting everyone know who’s the boss in the room. And just in case someone thinks he knows something you don’t, you can simply call the Vertu concierge service and get all the information you need to continue dominating the situation.
The rest of us will have to settle with our simple, plain smartphones that can perform any task the Bentley Vertu phone can, aside from getting you a quick date with a local gold digger. That’s what these luxury phones are all about anyway.
