Verizon’s LG G2 is receiving an update today which will ready the device for Verizon’s upcoming VoLTE expansion. The new update, version VS98025B, brings some upgrades to various apps, squashes some autocorrect bugs and fixes the Mobile Hotspot UI.
The big news in the update however is the inclusion of Verizon’s Advanced Calling 1.0, the moniker for the company’s HD Voice upgrades which are set to be unveiled soon. The VoLTE upgrade will allow Verizon customers with Advanced Calling installed to place crystal clear HD Voice calls complete with the option for flipping on video mode during the call. For this all to work however, both the caller and receiver must have a VoLTE compatible device, be in a VoLTE area and have Advanced calling installed on their devices. It’s pretty restrictive, but a nice jumping off point for Verizon.
