BlackBerry and T-Mobile may be “dating” again.
The “couple” disengaged after T-Mobile started offering its BlackBerry subscribers and easy upgrade option to the iPhone, leading BlackBerry’s CEO John Chen to react. T-Mobile’s CEO John Legere responded swiftly, and the two parties pretty much ended co-operation.
However, now that BlackBerry is about to launch the Passport, T-Mobile wants a piece of the action. And the Canadian company doesn’t mind selling them devices.
Alas, this is still unconfirmed, but chances are the two Johns have finally found a way to work together. Or they may’ve let their associates negotiate the deal. You know how they say – there can be only one (John in the room). 😉
Anyhow, the leaked photo shows the back of the BlackBerry Passport, all with the T-Mobile branding, hinting us something is indeed going on.
Then again, nothing is official until it’s official. And in the meantime, it’s worth recapping all the things we know about the Passport. It will be the first business phablet, boasting a 4.5-inch 1440×1440 pixels screen, 2.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 chip, 3GB of RAM, 13MP rear camera with OIS, 2MP front-facing camera, and 32GB of internal storage. BlackBerry’s iconic QWERTY keyboard will get some special tricks on this unit, doubling as a trackpad for scrolling and some other tricks…
