Chinese tech analyst Pan Jiutang claims that Vivo will be the first vendor to launch a smartphone powered by Qualcomm’s upcoming Snapdragon 810 chip. According to him, the Chinese company will use Qualcomm’s 64-bit beast SoC in its next flagship device, the Vivo Xplay 5.

He went on to add that other Chinese vendors to pick up the S810 will be Oppo (for its Find 9) and Xiaomi (Mi5). Likewise, we expect other major vendors to launch their own phones relying on this chip; chances are that will be the LG G4, a Galaxy S6 variant (one model will use Samsung’s own processor) and the next HTC One (M9?).

The Snapdragon 810 will be an 8-core chip that relies on ARM’s big.LITTLE architecture to pack 4 powerful processors for handling intensive tasks and 4 battery-friendly cores for handling “mundane” things like phone calls and text messaging. It will also integrate Adreno 430 graphics and an LTE radio.

First devices using this SoC are expected to be announced in early 2015.
